hobo (ˈhəʊbəʊ) — n, 1. A professional panhandler or street beggar who is not suffering from any mental or other disability, but rather uses well thought begging strategies to earn a middle class living.

Biography

2012 has seen Sheffield based Folk/Americana musician, Michael J Tinker, release ‘Shores of Amerikay’; an album with the award winning line-up of Katriona Gilmore (fiddle/mandolin), the Incredible Washboard Pete II (washboard, avocado, whisks, stomp box), Geth Griffith (double bass) and John Ellis (piano). The recipient of the Life-time Achievement Award at this years BBC Folk Awards, Bill Leader, also worked on the project.

Comfortable in a number of genres including jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, country and funk, nonetheless Folk and Americana remain his music of choice.

Michael’s eclectic musical influences, propensity for personally commissioned cigar-box instruments and repertoire of traditional and original songs make for shows to remember. Michael has been performing in the UK and abroad for over 10 years and has more recently supported award-winning artists such as Lucy Ward, Ewan McLennan and Ian Stephenson (KAN).
