When the night is dark
And I feel afraid
May I find my rest in you
When I feel ashamed
And I need your grace
May I find my rest in you
For you are the one
Who draws me close
I know I’m safe with you
For you died and then
You rose again
I know your love is true
So may I find my rest in you
When I cannot see
What tomorrow holds
May I put my trust in you
When I feel the weight
Of the wrong I’ve done
May I put my trust in you
For you are the one
Who draws me close
I know I’m safe with you
For you died and then
You rose again
I know your love is true
So may I put my trust in you
Bridge
I will find my rest
And put my trust
In you alone
For you won’t ever let me go
When I need a friend
I will call your name
For I know you’re always near
When I’m all alone
I will kneel and pray
For I know you’re always near
For you are the one
Who loves me so
There’s not a thing you wouldn’t do
For you died and then
You rose again
I know your love is true
So may I find my rest
And put my trust
In you
About the Song

Taking inspiration from Colin Buchanan and City Alight’s children/adult-worship cross-over ‘Jesus, Strong and Kind’, this song centres on the theme of asking God to help us rest and trust in Him amidst whatever struggles we face in life. The musical arrangement’s simplicity reflects that this is a prayer for all ages, with King’s angelic tones complementing Tinker’s warm vocals.
“The song initially came from the simple refrain that became the title,” says Tinker. “I wanted to write a prayer that both children and grown-ups could sing in the depths of personal trials and battles but also one that church families could sing corporately, encouraging each other to rest and trust in God, even when we don’t understand what is happening.”
‘May I Find My Rest In You’ is the lead single from Tinker’s upcoming full-length children’s album due out in summer 2027.
